FEBRUARY 25 – MARCH 1, 2026

Da Nang turned into more of a base to explore nearby areas. The one main attraction in Da Nang was the DRAGON BRIDGE. It is the world’s largest dragon-shaped steel bridge. It is 666 m (2185 ft) long, 37.5 m (123 ft)wide and has six lanes for traffic. It opened to traffic on March 29, 2013. It is real pretty by day, but awesome at night. Every minute or so it changes colours, from orange, to green, to pink, to blue. The colour change begins at the head and snakes it way to the tail.
Every Friday and Saturday night there is a DRAGON BRIDGE SHOW at 9:00 pm. The dragon begins to breathe fire for a few minutes.

Then it starts to blow a fierce jet of river water from its mouth. We were warned not to stand too close to the head. Even though we were on the bank and well away from the head, we still got a bit wet.

It’s only a 15 minute show, but people lined up for over an hour just to get a good spot. We were lucky that we came very early.

I mentioned in another blog how the Vietnamese like their colours. While we waited for the Dragon Show we saw numerous buildings around us change colours and change images.
